Slice an avocado and leave it on the counter. Within hours, it changes. Nobody calls that a defect. We call it proof that it's real.
Natural skincare can look or smell slightly different between batches because its ingredients come from living sources. Most small changes are normal. A rancid smell, mould or irritation is not.
Why Do Natural Ingredients Vary?
Take ghee, the heart of our formulation. It comes from our herd, raised at the foothills of a 130-million-year-old rainforest in Janda Baik, Pahang.
What they eat. Ghee's golden colour comes mainly from beta-carotene, a plant pigment cows get from grazing. Research shows pasture diets make dairy fat more yellow, so one batch may look deeper or paler than another.
The season. Rain, heat and sunshine change what grows. Beta-carotene in milk can vary by around 50% between early and late season, and botanicals like rose water shift too.
Care and timing. How ingredients are harvested and stored matters too. That's why our calves are fed first, before any milk is collected.
Why Can Natural Products Change Over Time?
Light, heat and oxygen slowly change natural oils and pigments once a bottle is open. Over time, this oxidation can produce a sharp, rancid smell. Heat speeds it up, which matters in Malaysia's hot, humid climate.
Why Do Some Skincare Products Never Change?
Synthetic fragrance, added colour and stabilisers keep many formulas identical every time. That's useful, but naturally derived formulas, like our ghee serums and Damask rose water shower gel, start from ingredients that vary.
Is It Natural Variation or a Sign of Spoilage?
Use this as a general guide, not a verdict on any single product.
| What you notice | What it usually means | What to do |
| A subtle shift in shade from your last bottle | Natural variation | Keep using |
| A scent that's a little softer or stronger | Natural variation | Keep using |
| Small differences between batches | Natural variation | Keep using |
| A sharp, sour or rancid smell | Possible oxidation or spoilage | Stop using and contact us |
| Mould, dark specks or unusual particles | Possible contamination | Stop using and contact us |
| Sliminess or separation that doesn't resolve | Possible breakdown of the formula | Stop using and contact us |

How Should You Check and Store Natural Skincare?
Snap a photo when you open a new bottle (same light, same spot) so you have a reference later.
- Store cool, away from sunlight and hot cars.
- Close caps firmly and use clean, dry hands.
- Keep water out of the bottle.
